Our Children’s playground is under major renovations

Just beyond the East Building is a lovely Children’s playground for use by our residents and their young guests. Situated on a hill next to the tennis courts, surrounded by trees, foliage and the beautiful Indian Creek, it is ideal for our youngest residents. The playground equipment is geared towards younger children, with swings, slides, jungle gyms, monkey bars, and a sandbox. The slides are made of brightly colored plastic and are not very high, appropriate for small children. There are two sets of swings; regular swings for older children and also special swings for the little ones. The ground is covered with soft wood chips. A chain link fence keeps the children from playing too close to the creek.

The library is open 24/7 to residents. It includes fiction and non-fiction sections. There is also a special Children’s Library group that meets every Friday from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Residents can check out books or sit in the comfortable chairs and read. A computer is available, as well as Internet access. New books being added all the time, so stop by and see for yourself. The library is temporarily not accepting any book donations. The library is located in the East Building, just off the lobby.

Our outdoor heated summer pool, for those hot summer days, is Olympic size with both plenty of “paddling around area” and dedicated lap lanes. A large pool deck area has tables and chairs and lounges for entertaining or relaxing. A kiddie pool, barbecue grills and shuffleboard lanes are all part of this facility. There is an additional fee for outdoor pool membership and cabanas are available to rent.

There are two adjoining tennis courts. They are on the tree-lined hill behind the East Building parking lot, next to the children’s playground. They are surrounded by high chain link fences to trap errant tennis balls. It is a casual environment. Reservations are not needed and players are not required to wear “tennis whites.” Players need to provide their own tennis balls and rackets. The courts are padlocked when not in use. Keys are available with the East Building doormen.

The West Building and the East Building both have laundry rooms with large clothes washers and dryers. They can be used for large or heavy loads. Residents have washer/driers in their units, so the community laundry rooms are not normally used for regular clothes washing. The Laundry Room on the lower level of the East Building is next to the package room and Maintenance Department offices, in the C tower. There is a clothes washer and a clothes drier, both large, “industrial size,” which can be used for blankets and bed spreads. There is also a standard-size washing machine. They are all coin operated. The room has chairs, a sink and two large tables for folding laundry. The laundry room is often empty and there is usually not a wait to use the machines. When a machine is already in use, residents are very cooperative and laundry can be temporarily stored on the folding tables.

Green Hill is a secure, gated community boasting an excellent 24 hour security staff, including an entrance gate house and doormen stationed at both the East and West Building main entrances. The goal is to keep our residents and their guests as safe and secure as possible. Security personnel patrol the buildings and grounds at all hours. Strategically placed cameras show our doormen various areas of the complex in real-time, and provide a record for possible review as necessary.

The Main Entrance to the complex, located on City Ave. and Hollingsworth Dr. (66th St. on the Philadelphia side) is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Gate security must be notified when visitors are expected in order for them to be admitted.

The Health Club is in the West building of the complex and is available for residents 16 years and older. The fitness center is fully equipped with modern equipment including weight machines, stationary bicycles, treadmills and a rowing machine. There is a heated indoor pool with lanes for swimming laps. Lockers and showers are available. There is an additional fee for Health Club membership.
